Arm in Cage test


The arm in Cage test is a common way to test the efficiency of mosquito repellents. This test is based on the World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines.


Procedure :

-200 host-seeking female mosquitoes are starved for 24H, then placed in a test cage (size 40 x 40 x 40 cm)

-Mosquito repellents are applied on the forearms of Volunteers (men and women) who then place their arm in the cage with the mosquitoes.

-After 2 consecutives mosquito bites, the test is stopped and the repellent is considererd to no longer work.

All of the products of the MANOUKA range succeedeed the “arm in Cage” test.
